Leading suspension supplier Öhlins has developed affordable rear shocks for the popular Honda Hornet 600 and 900 models, a modification that it claims transforms the ride of these naked-sport machines.

Ohlins Hornet rear shock goes on sale

Well known for its hypersports applications, Ohlins has spent considerable R&D resources creating a ‘Street Performance Line’ of products, giving upgraded suspension performance at affordable prices for naked, adventure and touring machines.

Priced at just £430.48 plus VAT, the new Hornet shocks join a line-up of more than 80 popular models from all major manufacturers of motorcycles.

Featuring a 46mm piston and monotube design, the shock uses an internal gas reservoir in the main body to deliver damping performance. The system also features external rebound and preload adjustors and the possibility to retro fit a hydraulic spring preload adjustor. In addition, the Öhlins shocks allow the user to fit a spring of their choice from a wide range, allowing complete customisation of the shock to individual weight or riding styles. Unlike many original equipment shocks, the Öhlins units are completely rebuildable and can be serviced by a qualified Öhlins technician, making them a long term investment rather than a short-term fix.

The new range of shocks has been created for the Honda CB 600 F Hornet model range 1998 -2011 and Honda CB 900 F Hornet, 2002-2006.

Chris Witter, business development manager, Öhlins Racing UK commented: “The Hornet 600 and 900 machines represent a large slice of naked sports machines, many of which have now seen several years and high mileage out on the road. Our Öhlins Street Performance Line shocks give an immediate performance upgrade to these bikes, at great value whilst retaining important Öhlins design features.”

Öhlins products are available through a network of specialist Öhlins Centres. These Centres are: BG Motorsport, Crescent Motorcycles, Dixon Racing Technology, FTR Suspension, Harris Performance Products Ltd, Kais Suspension Services, MH Racing Services, Mick Gardner Racing, P&H Motorcycles and Pro-Link Racing Services (NI).
