1. TomTom RIDER 450
Expensive but worth every penny! TomTom have just updated their range of RIDER motorcycle sat navs – overhauling and upgrading the software across their range of devices, while delivering their new flagship model, the TomTom Rider 450.
The sat nav allows bikers to discover the most interesting and exhilarating routes to liven up their journeys – offering the chance to choose between ‘Windy Roads’, ‘Hilly Roads’ and ‘Roundtrip Planning’. It’s a clever feature which works surprisingly well in practice.
These include biker meeting points, restaurants and hotels, even biker museums – everything a RIDER needs for the perfect tour. And it also comes equipped with lifetime world maps, live traffic and speed camera alerts – to help keep you moving when out on two wheels. This is now an essential piece of kit in biker arsenal!
2. Six month subscription to Motorcycle Sport & Leisure for £20!
The original bike magazine, started in 1962 and still providing the most in-depth insight into the world of motorcycling.
3. Discover the revelation of Honda’s Fireblade!
Grab your copy of the sought-after bookazine ‘Fireblade’ this Christmas!
When it first appeared in 1992, Honda’s BR900RR FireBlade was a revelation. It broke the 749cc sportsbike mould with its 893cc engine and established a dynasty which today, 12 generations of Blade later, remains at the cutting edge of sportsbike innovation as the CBR1000RR Fireblade.
All the models, all the Fireblade specials, your nearest and dearest can discover the story so far this Christmas!
4. Must-have for the cold and frosty mornings, the Pro Series Adventure III
A must-have for the cold and frosty mornings, the Pro Series Adventure III jacket and trousers are an evolution from the last generation Adventure II suit, with subtle but useful upgrades, such as the large external TPU shoulder protectors, and improved fit.
The best thing about this suit is the versatility that it offers. By using removable layers, the RST guys have created a jacket and trousers that can be transformed to suit riding year round in any weather. Both items have a removable waterproof lining and an equally removable thermal lining. They work well to keep you warm and dry, perfect for the Christmas season, click here to find out more!
5. Stand out with the new flip-front adventure helmet
A distinguishing feature of this type of helmet is the peak, and this one is adjustable to three positions or easily removable if you prefer. I found the peak especially useful when riding into low sun – simply dipping your head blocks any glare.
6. Boots both waterproof and breathable!
The X-Groove GTX boots are easily the most comfortable urban biking boots that I have worn. Why? Because while a lot of urban boots offer water protection, they rely on the manufacturers’ own systems, which aren’t always as breathable as you would like, and you end up with sweaty feet on warm days.
That’s not the case with the X-Groove GTX, because they use proper Gore-Tex in the lining to make the boots both waterproof and breathable – the difference is clear. I have used the trainer-style boots both on and off the bike, and they really are as close to the casual shoe feel as you’re going to get with waterproofing and CE certified protection.
7. Alpinestars Force Backpack 25 offers the lot!
For trips to the shops, touring, green-laning, and as an every-day bag for work. You can cram it to breaking point with clothes, computers and cameras, and it’s swallowed the lot with ease. Sure, it’s only 25 litres – but its compact size actually helps to offer a more comfortable and well balanced fit. Of course, if you’ve got a few kilos of gear on your back, you’re going to feel it at the end of the day – but its padded back panel, and multi-strap tailored adjustment system which spans across your chest, does a decent job of helping to distribute weight evenly and improve comfort.
If you need to add something bulky to your load, the backpack also comes equipped with a set of adjustable straps hidden away in a pocket in the bottom of the bag – and there are also four compression straps on the sides of the bag, allowing you to attach quite a bit of extra kit, providing your back can take the weight, of course. Grab yours here!
8. Keep your ride covered with Oxford’s Waterproof Motorbike Rain Cover!
This Christmas, not only keep your nearest and dearest warm but keep your ride warm and covered too, with Oxford’s Motorcycle Cover!
Mantle Motorbike Cover is the ultimate protection for motorcycle outdoor storage. Made of thick premium ripstop 210d Oxford Polyester fabric, improved with PU and Silver coating. It is 100% waterproof, water repellent, dustproof and with UV protection. It’s much more cost-effective than the motorbike shelter, motorbike shed and motorbike tent storage while it provides all features and qualities, does not take any additional space and it is suitable for all 4 seasons – winter, summer, spring and autumn.
9. Battery Tender Dellran Dual Selectable 4amp Charger
If you’re like us and ride old classic bikes as well as modern ones, then you’re likely to need to carry out maintenance on both 6v and 12v battery systems – and that’s where this dual 6v/12v switchable battery charger system from Battery Tender comes in really useful.
It’s a lightweight, compact charging unit designed for use with a wide range of different battery types. The fully automatic microcontroller system constantly updates the charging sequence to provide a smooth transition between the charging steps which makes it very easy to use, especially in small spaces.
